On Camera Technique + Self-Tape Lab
A practical on-camera class for self-tape auditions — building real camera confidence
through film and TV sides, live redirects, and playback.
- 📍 Amsterdam
- ⏱ Up to 3 hours
- 👥 Max 12 actors
- 💶 €35 per class
THE APPROACH
You have to know the rules before you can break them.
Like a dancer who studies ballet before moving into modern dance, actors need a strong foundation before they can fully play inside the frame. Self-tape auditions are often where actors first meet the camera — but the work is bigger than just getting a good tape.
This class uses film and television audition sides as the foundation for building real on-camera technique. You will work live, receive coaching and redirection, tape again, and watch playback to see exactly what changed.
WHAT WE COVER
The Technical and Creative Tools of On-Camera Work
Each class works through the specific skills that make camera work feel natural rather than performed.
- Framing and composition for self-tape
- Lighting setup and eye-line placement
- Physical behaviour and stillness on camera
- Props and their use inside the frame
- Working with redirects without overthinking
- Making clear, grounded choices on camera
- Understanding what the camera actually sees
- Taping, playback, and noticing what changed
- Working with film and TV audition sides
- Building a repeatable self-tape process
How to Participate
Actors can choose one of three option
01
Bring Prepared Sides
Bring a prepared film or TV scene, ideally around two pages.
A past audition you want to revisit works well.

Bring an audition tape you were not satisfied with.
We watch it, work the material live, apply redirection, then tape again.
